Sarah Hardy is a Nurse Consultant in the department of Rheumatology at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Trust with subspecialty expertise in vasculitis and Behçets Syndrome where the Liverpool Behçet’s Centre of Excellence is based. She is also Lead Rheumatology Nurse and manages a team of 16 Rheumatology advanced nurse practitioner and specialist nurses.

Sarah has specialised in vasculitis since 2011 and has been a Nurse Consultant since 2021. She has been a member of the UKIVAS board since 2016 and in 2018 was awarded an education grant from Vasculitis UK to complete her MSc dissertation in the development of a ‘non-cancer chemotherapy administration training program’ supporting the IV administration of cyclophosphamide for vasculitis patients. To date over 100 nurses have completed this training program which continues to run annually attracting vasculitis nurses from across the Merseyside & Cheshire region.

Sarah is particularly focused on improving the education opportunities for vasculitis nurses and on streamlining care for vasculitis patients. She has recently published her work on the ‘Implementation of Patient Initiated Follow-up’ in the Behçet’s service.
