Katia is an Occupational Therapist with over 27 years of experience in hand therapy. She currently serves as the Clinical Lead at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust in London. Katia's interest in the science behind the decision-making process related to surgical or non-surgical management of hand injuries grew during her co-development of a therapy-led closed hand fracture clinic within the Trust in 2023. Katia was awarded the BAHT research grant to investigate the essential competencies required by hand therapists to determine the most appropriate management of acute hand injuries. The outcomes of her literature review, consensus study, and service evaluation of the clinical pathway have since been published in peer-reviewed journals.
