Leanne Topcuoglu

Advanced Clinical Practitioner

Leanne Topcuoglu is an Advanced Practice Occupational Therapist at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust with over 25 years of clinical experience specialising in hand therapy. She leads the integrated Hand Therapy service, working across therapist-led fracture clinics, elective clinics and post-operative/post-injury rehabilitation.

Leanne is an active contributor to hand therapy at both national and European levels. She served as President of the British Association of Hand Therapists (BAHT) from 2022 to 2025 and is currently BAHT's representative to the European Federation of Societies for Hand Therapy (EFSHT). She is a member of the British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH) Audit and Registry Committee and serves as the Hand Therapy Lead for the Royal College of Surgeons (RCS) HandsFirst Quality Improvement Programme. Through these roles, she advocates for the value of hand therapy within national audit and quality improvement initiatives, promoting the routine collection and use of clinical data and patient-reported outcome measures to evaluate and improve patient care.

Leanne is currently undertaking an MSc, with research exploring the provision of conservative management for hand and thumb osteoarthritis across the UK. Her professional interests include advancing hand therapy practice, service development, evidence-based care and improving patient pathways.
