Raelene Marx

Accredited Hand Therapist
Fortius Clinic Hand Therapy Specialists, London

Raelene is an Accredited Hand Therapist with almost 30 years of experience in hand therapy and achieved Advanced Clinical Practitioner status via the Health Education England e-Portfolio route in 2022.

Originally from South Africa, she qualified as an Occupational Therapist from Stellenbosch University in 1996 before relocating to the United Kingdom in 2000, where she worked across several London teaching hospitals.

She spent more than a decade as Clinical Lead for Hand Therapy at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital before progressing to an Advanced Clinical Practitioner role in 2022. Following a distinguished NHS career, she transitioned to full-time private practice at the end of 2025.

Throughout her career, Raelene has combined clinical expertise with a commitment to innovation, presenting emerging treatments and service developments at both national and European hand therapy conferences.
Passionate about education, she is a member of the British Association of Hand Therapists (BAHT) Educational Subcommittee, where she coordinates the Advancing Practice Network.

Raelene believes that hands are central to how we work, create, care for others, and express who we are. This philosophy continues to guide her practice and is reflected in a quote that has long inspired her work:
"It is in your hands to create a better world for all who live in it." — Nelson Mandela.
