Tom Quick Quick MA (Cantab.) MBBS, FRCS (Tr&Orth) MD (res) FHEA.

Tom  is a clinical academic specialising in brachial plexus and peripheral nerve injury. He holds the appointments of Associate Professor at Bristol University as well as at University College London. Tom is the Director of research in the Peripheral Nerve Injury Research Unit and Clinical Lead for peripheral nerve in the UCL Centre for Nerve Engineering.

He is an honorary Consultant Surgeon at the Bristol NHS Trusts and works in the South West brachial Plexus Team (SWePT); The regionally commissioned NHS service for the peninsular. Tom was elected as an ABC travelling fellow for 2024 Lecturing as a representative of the British Orthopaedic Association in Canada and the Midwest United States at the invitation of the American and the Canadian Orthopaedic Associations.

Tom’s clinical and research practice focuses purely on nerve injury repair and reconstruction with a further super sub-specialisation in obstetric brachial plexus palsy, nerve injuries of childhood and adolescence and neuromuscular injuries to the developing shoulder. Tom is widely published and recognised nationally and internationally as an expert in these fields.

Tom’s specialist training was in Orthopaedic Surgery, with subspecialty fellowship training in Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgery (with a focus on the upper limb) and Peripheral Nerve Surgery. He attained Completion of Specialist Training and was appointed to the specialist register of the General Medical Council in 2012. After further subspecialty fellowship training, Tom was appointed as a Consultant Surgeon in 2013. Following 13 years (11 of which as a Consultant surgeon at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Peripheral Nerve Injury Unit), Tom moved to Bristol in October 2024 to establish a brachial plexus unit for the Southwest. 

Tom undertakes his private work in London at The Cleveland Clinic London.

Tom is a member of the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA), the British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH).
